Dindin of the Day
Baby Romaine Salad with Shredded Chicken and Portobello a.k.a. What-I-Have-in-Fridge-Dindin

What's-in-There:
Baby Romaine Lettuce
Carrot
Chicken Breast
Portobello Mushrooms
Tomatoes
Scallions/Spring Onions
Any Salad Dressing You Fancy
Whip-it-Up!:
1. Steam chicken breast and whole mushrooms. Add some EVOO to avoid them stick to the plate/bowl. Steam for about 10 mins, or depending how much you need and how thick the breasts are.
2. Leave them to cool and shred the chicken while quarter the shrooms into biting size.
3. Prepare the greens as usual. Tear the lettuce. Julienne the carrot. Quarter the tomatoes and cut scallions into an inch's length.
4. Toss 'em in any dressing you like and hoover 'em!
Notes for preparing this recipe:
1. Lettuces that are great with this recipe:
::: Iceberg - the least flavorful but sweet and light lettuce.
::: Romaine - the most flavorful and can be bitter therefore I use Baby Romaine. It is also known as rocket or cos. Local supermarkets back in M'sia fucked its name up and call them Romance.
::: Butterhead - it has buttery taste as the name suggested but can be quite expensive.
::: Miner's - Toss 'em in for that peppery flavor.
::: Watercress - It's the peppery flavor you'd want.
2. Never use knife when you prepare lettuce as cutting tends to brown the edges of the leaves.
3. Cook the shrooms in whole and cut after cooked to preserve the flavor. I use portobellos for their musky and meaty flavor.
4. Poach chicken breasts, if you fancy, in chicken stock or wine. Alternatively add some thyme/parsley/bay leaves and bake them. I go for steam because I'm having fever right now and I have someone barking at my diet.
5. Omit scallions if you dislike them. I add them for that mild onion flavor and also because they are in my fridge. You may substitute with capsicums to add colors or orange slices for that summery taste. Toss in chopped pistachios or cashews for texture, crunchiness and the la la la.
Ok, I think I watch too much food channel.

It Sees So It's Coming And It's Gonna Conquer
Oh boy oh boy oh boy!Click HERE!Note to Ian R: Whoopeedoo!! I'm shitting on my pants for it!So what up people?Rae's been hmm... kinda losing the interest to blog and hasn't got anything to share except some daily flotsam. Apart from resolving the emo crap (see below), life's been ok. Just ok. Nothing spectacular, nothing dumb. Mediocre. Would really like to do some creative bitching entry but brain ain't so bitchy at this time.Workplace is definitely Alaska now due to the rain and maybe the mall management fucked the already fucked up air-conditioning up even more cos I couldn't get meself warm with a leather jacket on. I'm not being far out but I even resorted to wearing a 70% wool jacket with wool scarf and boots to keep me arse warm. I was really wearing winter gear at work today. If you wanna feel the awesome coldness of a winter, do come to me store, man. Satisfaction guaranteed. No shit.Talk about work, I got to handle the most far-out complaint in history today. This guy came burstin' with the guilty-looking girlfriend saying one of my staff member hit on her by asking her number while he offering assistance. WTF. All my staff member did was asking her to leave her number so he could contact her should we have anything promos or activities going on. While I was looking apologetic and serious and did the usual drill of entertaining that arse by apologizing and clearing the misunderstanding up and shit, I was laughing inside. How thick could this chick be, man. When he finished venting out his bitchside to me, he swore at my staff member while on the way from the store. Seriously. Guess this is what an insecure and ball-less guy would do when shit happens.
So yeah. Reckon that's most interesting lagan that happened this week.
Addendum: I didn't know Absolut Mango's super duper yummy. Hur hur hur.

Mission Obliteration Unsuccessful
3 years ago on this day, I was super pissed cos I found out Dumbledore died before even reading the book.
2 years ago on this day, I had the most major breakdown cos he left.
1 year ago on this day, I was job-hunting.
This year today, I figured out, sort of, that something which had been bothering me lately and what I've figured out bothers me even more. Something weird happened during lunchtime today. Y'see, there's this guy working at the foodcourt a couple of floors above my workplace looks so much like someone I used to know. When he smiled at me while taking my order, fuzzy feelings filled my core and I realised just how much I miss that person. Oh man, it's been a while since the last time I missed someone that much you have no idea and it feels so wrong. I don't think I've let it go and this spooked the blah outta me. Oh man oh man oh man.
A lot of things came back to me. Everything was all good back then, to me at least. But when another party has too many secrets and they got leak out, shit happens. Feelings of disappointment and betrayal were gratifying when shit happened back then. That person did what he had to do while I did what was right at that time. What's not mine is not mine, I guess, just like what Rach said. But when it comes around it comes around.
Anyway, that's not my problem. My issue now is that I have yet to move on. Thought that I did. Even Ken realises it that I haven't.
It's really weird cos of late I've been wondering how is that person doing and stuff. And I worry for that person. I still can't really tell what sort of feelings I have for that person. Is it just plain platonic or more than that?
Wow, there you go. Stuff that's been bottled inside me all lashed out here @ www where every Tom, Dick and Harry and John and Sally and Jenny and Joanne and Betty has access to. However I do feel much better now.
I think I crap too much that I don't make much sense now so I'm gonna take my leave.
Cheerio.
Usher's demanding massive airplay on my iTunes with Moving Mountain.

Randomly Yours
Say...
Was fixing the tune playlists and then got bored thus this entry. I went berserk downloading heaps of music that I fucked my phone memory card up. This machine of mine that's called laptop's been PMS-ing of late. Probably from all the shit I've been downloading. Poor baby can't handle it.
Addendum: Ms. Orrico walked into the store today and bought a couple of jeans and that same military jacket which I have. Aufa was cheeky enough to play her song, I'm Not Missing You while she was trying stuff out. She was cute and petite. And human, unlike those SOBs (Sporean Office Bitches).
Been hooked on OneRep's Say.

No I Ain't Dead Yet
So yeah. What up?
Nothing much going around Rae's planet of late.
Been working.
Been spending time with *ahem*.
Been crap to close friends *sorry sorry sorry*.
Been watching heaps of old movies e.g. Kill Bill, Ocean's and the likes.
Been trying to diet but failed.
Been partying quite a lot.
Been getting irregular sleep.
Been trying to figure something out.
Been trying heaps of clothes to find my Fall/Winter style. Ah yes, military jackets and boots are one of must-haves this season FYI. So are those Hareems that I'm unable to sashay them down because of my big-ass hips. Tartan is a prominent print and lace might play a huge part while other key looks are gypsy and eastern European. Maxi dresses are a definite passé but they are like everywhere this time in Singapore. One word to define Singapore fashion trend: SLOWPOKE. Please keep them for next Spring/Summer.
Other than that, life's been good.
Been entertained by Ginuwine with Prince's When Doves Cry.
Addendum: Am whipping up an Chinese old skool dinner for two tomorrow cos someone hasn't had them for quite a long time. :)
